About Us

About the Owner

Yalea Baughman began her career as a High School Chemistry Teacher with the New Teacher Project. During that time, she was instrumental in the grant writing, curriculum development, and institution of the Academies program with Metro Nashville Public Schools. She also developed the Chemistry laboratory curriculum as a pilot for the Collegiate Academy within Dallas ISD. Wanting to develop more as both a leader and instructional coach, she spent 3 years as an Assistant Principal and then Principal resident. During this time, she developed a love of data, coaching, and instructional pedagogy that would lead to substantial gains on both the Interim Assessments as well as the culminating STAAR tests, particularly in the Special Education and English Language Learner demographic. Yalea earned her Bachelors of Science in Biomedical Science from Grand Valley State University, her Master of Arts in Teaching from Belmont, and is currently pursuing her Doctorate specializing in Curriculum and Instruction. She strives to create equitable educational experiences for all children, particularly children of color, and aims to create structures that prepare students and teachers to cultivate a lifelong love of learning.

Why Beyond the Peak?

Beyond the Peak, LLC was developed in response to a growing need to fix the systemic issues that plague all students, particularly students of color. We set ourselves apart by offering a full service that diagnoses both the culture and instruction of a school. Our theory is that instruction and mastery can not be accomplished if the school culture and climate do not allow for that instruction to occur. By combining forces, and creating a strategic plan that includes: development, observation/monitoring and continuous feedback; Beyond the Peak, LLC is your one-stop-shop for improving your schools where impact cant be felt years later.
